Jam Sessions

Our Jam Sessions of acoustic, old time and traditional music resumes at the Old Mill in Bushwood, MD. Musicians and friends are invited to gather around 7 p.m. on the 2nd Friday and at 4 on the last Sunday of each month for music, conversation and lots of fun.


"The Bushwood Mill Jam Sessions" has it's own Facebook following.


We are a society of local residents dedicated to the preservation and promotion of regional traditional and contemporary folk music and dance. We schedule monthly events and support similar events in our area. Please review our newsletter and website, attend our events and consider becoming a member. SMTMD Contra Dance
Saturday, January 10th.

Christ's Church Hall
Chaptico, MD.

Contra dancing is a traditional American style of social dance and is a huge amount of fun (and exercise)! If you’ve ever danced a Virginia Reel, you have a good idea how much fun it can be. If you haven’t, it’s about time you tried it! Beginners are encouraged to get some instruction in the various dances (starting at 7 pm).

Dancing lessons start at 7 p.m. with the band striking up at 7:30. Admission is $10 for non SMTMD members, $8 for members (band members are free). There will be an ice cream social following the dance.

Annual Christmas Open Mic

Open MicOne of our best events of the year, Our "Christmas Open Mic Night" provided an opportunity for talented local singers, songwriters, and musicians to display their crafts in front of an enthusiastic, friendly audience.


We were entertained by a wide variety of folk styles and acoustic instruments. This year was one of our best ones yet. Everybody always had a great time.
